Myth: A fast heartbeat means the baby is a girl.

The Truth: Normal fetal heart rate is between 110 and 160 beats per minute. There have been no studies that conclusively show that heart rate is a predictor for a baby's gender. Your baby's heart rate will probably differ during each prenatal visit depending on the age of the fetus and activity level at the time of the visit.

Myth: Heartburn during pregnancy means your baby will have hair.

The Truth: Heartburn is very common throughout pregnancy and it is not an accurate predictor of whether your baby will be born with lots of hair.

Myth: You can tangle the umbilical cord around the baby's neck by raising your arms above your head.

The Truth: You can stop worrying about raising your hands above your head now! This is yet another myth!

Myth: You can tell your baby's gender by the way you are carrying The Truth: Other than ultrasound and amniocentesis (or chorionic villi sampling), there is no way to determine the gender of the baby you are carrying.� Babies are carried differently based on their position, their gestational age and weight, and their maternal weight.
